About Axe-Mania | Kingwood’s Family-Owned Axe Throwing Venue

Who Is Behind All These Axes?

This is a family business, plain and simple. Axe-Mania® is owned and operated by Todd and Christi Byers through Tomahawk Entertainment, LLC, and the doors opened here in Kingwood in March 2025.

Family-owned shows up in the small stuff. It is why the eight-year-old at lane four gets the same coaching as the corporate group in lanes seven through nine. It is why somebody notices when your party is one lane short of comfortable and fixes it before you have to ask. And it is why the answer to “can we do this here?” is usually yes, followed by a few questions about how many people you are bringing.

The goal was never to build the biggest entertainment venue in Texas. It was to build the one your family actually wants to come back to on a Saturday, and the one your neighbor mentions when somebody asks what there is to do around Kingwood.

What Makes This Place Different?

Nine high-tech projected axe-throwing lanes, for a start. The target is beamed onto the board instead of painted on it, so the same lane can be a bullseye one round and a zombie horde the next. Digital scoring tallies every throw as it lands, which means no arguments, no chalkboard math, and no self-appointed referee ruining the night.

Anti-bounce borders run down every lane so a throw that does not stick stays where it falls. More than 18 game modes keep a two-hour visit from turning into the same throw over and over. And when a lane needs a breather, the retro arcade is right there, buttons clacking, ready to absorb whoever is waiting their turn. The whole lineup lives on the axe throwing games page.

Add a lounge with beer and wine, cold drinks, and snacks, plus real event space for groups, and you get a building where a birthday party, a first date, and a sales team offsite can all be happening at once without anybody stepping on anybody. That is the short version. The longer version is on the axe throwing page.

9 PROJECTED LANES

High-tech lanes with digital scoring and anti-bounce borders, built so first throwers and repeat champions can share the same game.

18+ GAME MODES

Head-to-head, team versus team, or everybody against the clock. See them all on the games page.

ARCADE AND LOUNGE

Retro arcade cabinets, beer and wine for grown-ups, cold drinks and snacks for everybody, and somewhere comfortable to heckle from.

AGES 8 AND UP

Big kids, teenagers, parents, and grandparents all throw here. Waiver required, closed-toe shoes required, and the waiver can be signed at home.

Is This Really A Family Place?

It is, and that was on purpose from day one. Ages 8 and up can throw, and the projected lanes are a big reason that works. A kid who cannot out-muscle an adult can absolutely out-think one in a game of tic-tac-toe or zombie defense, and watching that happen is one of the more entertaining things in the building.

Grown-ups get beer and wine from the lounge. Everybody gets cold drinks and snacks. Nobody gets a room that feels like it was designed for one age group and tolerated by the rest. Every participant signs a waiver, closed-toe shoes are required, and staff stay close to the lanes the entire time, which is the part parents tend to appreciate most.

That mix is why we end up hosting so many different kinds of nights. Birthday parties for eleven-year-olds and for forty-one-year-olds. Church and youth groups. Company team building. Bachelor and bachelorette parties. Date nights, fundraisers, and plain old Saturday nights. Start with plan your event if you have a group in mind.

How Are You Part Of The Lake Houston Community?

Kingwood is not just where the building sits. It is the whole reason the building exists. We are a chamber member and an active part of the Lake Houston business community, and a good chunk of any given week is spent hosting local schools, teams, churches, and companies that we will run into again at the grocery store.

The doors are at 23840 HWY 59 N., Kingwood, TX 77339, which puts us within an easy drive of Humble, Spring, Atascocita, New Caney, Porter, and Splendora. Plenty of folks come down from the greater Houston side too, usually because somebody in the group got outvoted on dinner and a movie.

If your organization is looking for a local venue that can handle a real headcount, special events and large party booking are the two places to start. Or just call 281-770-4634 and tell us what you are cooking up.

Who Is That Furry Fellow With The Axe?

That would be Axel, our mascot, and he is far and away the most photographed member of the crew. Kids find him first, parents find him second, and by the end of the night he has somehow ended up in half the birthday photos.

He has his own origin story too, which we wrote down so nobody has to take our word for it. Read the story behind Axel, our fierce and furry mascot and you will understand why he fits this place so well.

Where Can I Learn More Before I Visit?

Two stops. The Axe-Mania blog is where we write about things to do around Kingwood, party planning ideas, event recaps, and what is new in the lanes. If you are trying to figure out how to pull off a birthday, a team night, or a rainy Saturday with restless kids, start there.

The FAQ page handles the practical questions. Age limits, waivers, shoes, what to bring, how groups work, and what happens if you have never thrown an axe in your life. Between the blog and the FAQ, most people walk in already knowing what to expect.

After that it is just a matter of picking a night. Check current pricing, look at this week’s events and specials, or grab a gift card for the person who has everything except a good throwing arm.
