Axe Throwing and a Cold Drink, Under One Roof in Kingwood
Somewhere between the sports bar that is always too loud and the restaurant where everyone just stares at their phones, there is a better option. You pick up an axe, you line up nine paces from a projected target, and you find out very quickly who in your group has been holding out on you.
Axe-Mania is an indoor axe throwing venue in Kingwood with nine high-tech projected lanes, a retro arcade, a lounge, and beer and wine for the grown-ups. It is the kind of place where a casual Friday turns into a standing monthly thing. If you have been searching for an axe throwing bar near Kingwood, Humble or the north Houston suburbs, this is the short version: yes, you can throw axes here, and yes, you can have a drink while you do it.
What Makes an Axe Throwing Bar Different From a Regular Night Out?
A regular bar gives you a seat and a drink. That is the whole product. The problem with that is it puts all the work on your group. If the conversation is flowing, great. If it is not, you are watching the clock.
An axe throwing venue flips it. There is a thing to do, a score on the wall, and a reason to talk that is not just small talk. Our lanes run 18 digital game modes, so the competition changes shape every few rounds. The quiet person in your group usually turns out to be the best thrower, which is half the fun.
The practical difference is that nobody has to be good at this. The lanes score themselves, the targets are projected rather than painted on, and anti-bounce borders keep a wild throw where it belongs. Beginners outnumber experienced throwers here on most nights.
What Can You Drink While You Throw?
We serve beer and wine, plus cold non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. We do not serve liquor, and we are deliberate about pace: axe throwing and heavy drinking do not mix, and our staff will say so if a lane is getting away from itself. That is not us being difficult. It is the reason the lanes stay fun for the group next to you.
In practice most groups land on a rhythm of a drink, a few rounds, something from the snack side, and back to the lane. Weekly specials move, so check what is running this week before you come. For current lane rates, our pricing page is always the accurate source.
Who Actually Comes Here on a Weeknight?
Couples On A Date Night
Easily our most common two-person booking. There is a reason: it gives you something to do and something to talk about, and nobody has to pretend to know anything about wine. We wrote up how a date night at the lanes actually goes if you want the honest version.
Work Crews Who Want Out Of The Conference Room
Small teams book a couple of lanes after shift and sort out the pecking order properly. If you are organizing something bigger, our corporate and team event page covers how group lanes and timing work.
Friend Groups Celebrating Something
Birthdays, promotions, last nights before someone moves away. The lounge gives you somewhere to sit between rounds, which is what separates this from a trampoline park. See how birthday bookings work if there is a cake involved.
Bachelor And Bachelorette Parties
A reliable middle ground when half the party wants a wild night and half of them have work in the morning. Our bachelor and bachelorette page has the details on group sizes.
Do You Have To Be 21 To Come In?
No, and this is where we differ from most places that call themselves an axe throwing bar. Our minimum age to throw is 8. The bar side is for adults, the lanes are for everyone from 8 up, and families mix with date nights and work crews on the same floor most evenings.
That does mean we are not a late-night drinking venue, and if that is what you are after you will be happier somewhere else. What we are is a place a family can bring a 10-year-old at 5pm and a group of coworkers can take over two lanes at 8pm. Everyone signs a waiver and wears closed-toe shoes. The full list is on our rules, safety and age limits page, and you can sign the waiver before you arrive to save time at the counter.
Where Is The Nearest Axe Throwing Bar To Me?
We are on Highway 59 North in Kingwood, which puts us inside a reasonable drive for most of the northeast Houston suburbs. Nobody wants to spend 40 minutes in traffic to throw an axe, so here is the honest geography.
From Humble you are looking at a short hop up 59, and Atascocita and Porter are both close enough to be a weeknight decision rather than a plan. New Caney and Spring take a little longer but are well inside what people drive for a good night out. If you are coming up from the city, our Houston page covers the run north and what to expect when you get here.
Common Questions About Drinks, Lanes And Booking
Do you serve alcohol?
Yes. We serve beer and wine, along with cold non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. We do not serve liquor.
Can I drink and throw axes at the same time?
You can have a drink while you throw, and most adults do. Our staff keep an eye on pace and will step in if a lane needs it. Safety comes before the next round, every time.
Do I need to book a lane in advance?
Walk-ins are welcome and often fine on a quieter night, but weekend evenings fill up. Booking ahead through our online booking is the safer plan, especially for groups of four or more.
Is this a 21-and-over venue?
No. The minimum throwing age is 8. The bar side is adults only, but the venue itself is family friendly and most evenings have a mix of families, couples and work groups.
How long does a session take?
Most groups spend between one and two hours on a lane, including time in the lounge and the arcade between rounds. Larger groups usually want longer.
Can we bring our own food or drinks?
No outside food or drink. We have snacks, beer, wine and cold drinks on site. For a larger catered event, start with our event planning page and we will work out the details with you.
