One of the best parts of what we do at Axe-Mania® isn’t the axes, it’s watching people create memories together.
This weekend, we had the privilege of hosting Alex and six of his friends as they celebrated his birthday. Like every group that walks through our doors, they arrived looking for something fun and different to do together. By the end of the event, they were landing throws, competing with one another, and creating the kind of memories that birthdays are supposed to be made of.
What stood out about this group wasn’t just how quickly they learned, it was their attitude. They were respectful, engaged, and eager to learn from the moment they stepped onto the throwing lanes. They listened carefully to coaching, encouraged one another, and embraced every challenge we put in front of them.
One thing many people don’t realize is that axe throwing isn’t a one-size-fits-all activity. Every thrower is different. Some respond better to a traditional throw, while others find success with slight adjustments to stance, grip, release point, or follow-through. Our coaches work individually with each guest to find what works best for them, helping every participant experience the satisfaction of hearing that first solid “thunk” as an axe sticks in the target.
As the event progressed, confidence grew. Friendly competition emerged, high-fives became more frequent, and the laughter got louder.
Because the group was attentive, safety-conscious, and quickly demonstrated strong throwing skills, we were able to introduce some advanced experiences that many guests never get the opportunity to try.
The group received instruction on knife throwing, learning the fundamentals before stepping up to the targets themselves. Once everyone had become comfortable, we added an even bigger challenge: the Double Tap.
For those unfamiliar with it, the Double Tap is exactly what it sounds like. Two knives are thrown simultaneously, followed by a third knife aimed between the first two after they stick. It requires focus, timing, and confidence. Watching the group rise to the challenge was one of the highlights of the day.
What made the experience special wasn’t the tricks or advanced throws, it was the people. Alex and his friends brought great attitudes, followed instructions, respected the facility, and fully embraced the experience. Those are the groups that make our job enjoyable.
We often say that Axe-Mania® is more than axe throwing. It’s about birthdays, celebrations, team outings, date nights, and creating stories you’ll talk about long after you leave. Alex’s birthday gathering was a perfect example of that.
To Alex and his friends, thank you for spending your celebration with us. We hope your birthday was one to remember, and we look forward to seeing you back on the lanes again soon.
After all, our goal is always to be on target.
